I Could Never Stomach All The Damn Vampires

Thirty one years ago today The Lost Boys was released. Nobody knows when the sequels were released because no one involved will talk about them.

Kiefer Sutherland, though not the leading man, became the character most associated with the film. So strong was his image that he landed on the cover of THE vampire encyclopedia — J. Gordon Melton’s The Vampire Book.

It was a breakout role for Sutherland and the poor guy would never act in anything else ever again.

I’ve been doing some reading for what I hope will be a longer blog about this 80s horror staple, and was surprised to learn about the changes the movie went through from script to screen; some were quite significant. For example, there was supposed to be a tease for a sequel in the original that was never filmed, even though sequels were eventually made.

But the undead aren’t killed as easily as grandpa supposed. Because a musical version is in the works by Grammy winner G Tom Mac.

INXS is not providing the score

Hopefully, much more Toothpickings to come about this often-overlooked vampire classic in the future.

Anyway, hope everyone celebrates by eating maggots I mean rice.

Even more undead than he was in Flatliners
