One thing I came to appreciate by actually talking face-to-face with Ghostbros was their dismay that their treasured original film was ret-conned out of the 2016 version. It didn’t happen, as far as the newer film was concerned (aside from some winks to the audience)

The newer Ocean’s movie, I think, took note of that and decided not to remake the brand from scratch, but have it exist in the same world as the other Ocean movies (others since 2001 anyway)
